About Marco Bitran
Marco Bitran received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Economics from MIT. He earned his Master's in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 2003. Marco is married to Devorah Bitran. He enjoys running 5K and 10K road races, spending time with his two children and family, and skiing. Marco is also involved in and volunteers with various philanthropic endeavors, including the Greenlight Fund, the Bitran Family Charitable Foundation, Combined Jewish Philanthropies, local food banks, organizations that assist underprivileged children, animal rights organizations, and several educational organizations.
Marco Bitran is the Founder of AI Exchange, Inc., in Boston, Massachusetts, a hedge fund separately managed account platform. AI Advisors is a wholly owned subsidiary of AI Exchange. In launching the company, Bitran developed the technology to offer alternative investment strategies in a managed-account format, and raised $1.5 million in venture capital from top-tier venture funds, including General Catalyst, Founder Collective, Common Angels, and LaunchCapital. Marco has built a successful team including former senior executives from Schwab Investments and Wellington Management Company.
Before incorporating AI Exchange in 2011, Bitran was Portfolio Manager at Clearstream Investments, LLC, a quantitative exchange-traded fund that followed fund models designed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Prior to his entrepreneurial efforts, Bitran spent three years with Wellington Management Company in Boston, Massachusetts, as a Sector-fund Manager and Global Industry Analyst. He utilized a fundamentals-driven process for portfolio construction, working closely with portfolio teams and global equity research analysts to synthesize investment theses and investment ideas.
Marco Bitran also worked with Morgan Stanley at its Menlo Park, California, location, first as a Financial Analyst in the investment banking division, and then as an Equity Research Associate with the telecommunications equipment team. In the latter position, Marco Bitran was a member of a three-person team that served industry-leading technology and data networking companies.
Marco's first startup was Digital Entertainment Media, Inc., one of the industry's first web-based music streaming services. Bitran developed the software architecture and a business plan, in addition to recruiting staff.
